Code to WhatsApp for UAE users
From 6th September 2026, OTP codes for all UAE numbers will automatically be sent to the WhatsApp of the user.
There is currently no change to the login screen and where SMS is mentioned, for the UAE users, it is WhatsApp. Go to your WhatsApp application and you will see a message from Qwil with the code. Copy the code and return to the Qwil application.
Once logged in to the mobile app, codes (for example to login to the desktop) are sent within the Qwil app
Why no SMS?
Qwil has been registered with the TDRA since June 2024 with the code NPTOTP. However SMS stopped to be delivered by the carriers in July 2026 due due to regulatory changes by the TDRA and Telecom providers which is beyond Qwil control. WhatsApp provides another channel for the delivery of the code securely without requiring local carriers.
Alternatives to WhatsApp - Virtual numbers
We recommend the service Moremins as this has been checked and is cost effective. This service may also be used for other use cases requiring foreign OTP as the delivery of SMS affects many services as the TDRA has decided to phase out SMS by foreign providers.

How do I register?
- Register from the website with your email and you will receive a code. Purchase a virtual mobile number (1 month) from the UK.
- On the appstore, download Moremins and login using your email and code you will be sent. You will have the mobile number to use to receive SMS.
- Contact your organisation using Qwil and request a number change to the virtual number.
- Once that has been confirmed, the OTP code will be sent to the virtual number and available in the app (and through notification). Do make sure you check the app, not the SMS of the phone.
Do I need to always use Moremins?
No. Once you are logged in to the mobile app of Qwil Messenger, the code for desktop log-ins will be sent to the mobile app. It is only when log-in in for the first time.
